This week I presented a new Ten Minute Rule Bill to the House, proposing to extend the reach of the Freedom of Information act to providers of outsourced public services. Nearly 20 years on from the revolution of the Freedom of Information Act, the unaccountable, outsourced state would be subject to the powers of private citizens, journalists and communities to find answers about the decisions made in their name.

Whether it's Carillion, Cygnet or Concentrix, people should expect the same clarity from private providers of public services as they would from public services - it's not just the right thing to do, it's the smart thing to do.
