Louise Haigh and Paul Blomfield with young carers

I’m working with Sheffield Young Carers to call on South Yorkshire Passenger Transport executive to provide free travel for young carers in Sheffield.

Young carers in Sheffield are children and young people under the age of 25 who provide full or part time care for family members who have a long-term physical illness, a disability, mental health issues, or substance and alcohol misuse issues. These young people save the Government billions of pounds a year and yet they are expected to give more and more.

This new petition is to provide young carers with a free bus pass so they can undertake their caring responsibilities more easily, carry on with their education, training or employment, and have the chance to have a social life. Click here to sign.
