I’ve submitted my nominations for a wide variety of health and care workers for the NHS70 Parliamentary Awards. They’re being held this summer, on the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the NHS, to celebrate the contribution of NHS staff.

Among the nominees is Helen Clements, the Lead Nurse at the Broad Lane Walk-In Centre. At the start of this year I campaigned hard to save the Walk-In Centre from NHS plans (now under consideration) which would have seen it closed.

Nominations recently closed and the awards will be announced on July 4th, on the eve of the Health Service’s anniversary.

After hearing from so many constituents about the good experience they’ve had with the Walk-In Centre, and how important it has been, they seemed a perfect choice to nominate for the Excellence in Emergency and Urgent Care Award. Helen is a really passionate member of the team and totally committed to providing brilliant care for the 64,000 patients they treat every year.

I’m also pleased to be nominating people from Sheffield for some brilliant contributions across the other categories including excellence in mental health, primary care and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
