I’m delighted to hear that Sheffield CCG have seen sense and chosen to postpone any change to the Broad Lane Walk-In Centre and Minor Injuries Unit for two years. Over the last year thousands of people have campaigned against the proposed move of services, which would have seen both facilities moved to Northern General Hospital.

I campaigned against the proposals on the grounds that they would have hurt residents of Sheffield Heeley, who would have faced long travel times to access care. The postponement will hopefully mean we can have a productive conversation about how best to provide care in our city, rather than rushing towards unpopular and problematic solutions.

This move shows the power of sustained campaigning by people who come together behind an important cause – I’m proud to have done my bit in representing constituents worried about the change.
