Thanks to the tireless efforts of local campaigners, I’m delighted to announce that South Yorkshire Transport Authority has agreed to change the route of the M17 bus to connect Lowedges to Jordanthorpe Health Centre.

The bus route will change in the Autumn, before Meadowgreen Health Centre relocates to Jordanthorpe. It will continue to meet the needs of existing bus users, while also providing patients in Lowedges with a direct bus service to their GP. Thank you to everyone who supported the campaign and signed my petition.

Labour understands that lots of people rely on buses to get around. That’s why a Labour government would make bus travel free for under-25s and will protect bus passes for older people.

We’ll also give local authorities the freedom to form their own bus companies to make sure that public transport serves the interests of local communities, not private profit.
