I’m delighted to confirm that, from 1 September 2019, the route of the M17 bus will change to connect Lowedges to Jordanthorpe Health Centre.

South Yorkshire Transport Authority announced this change earlier in the year and have now released details of the new route. Instead of simply travelling down Greenhill Parkway, the M17 will now go along Low Edges Road and Gervaise Road before continuing on to Jordanthorpe.

This revised route will continue to meet the needs of existing bus users, while also providing patients in Lowedges with a direct bus service to their GP.

Along with many local people, I campaigned hard for this change. The prospect of getting to appointments at the Health Centre without a regular, direct bus connection was a real concern for patients, particularly for older people and those with mobility issues.

Labour understands that lots of people rely on buses to get around. That’s why a Labour government would make bus travel free for under-25s and will protect bus passes for older people.

We’ll also give local authorities the freedom to form their own bus companies to make sure that public transport serves the interests of local communities, not private profit.
