The pensions scheme for victims of the Troubles that was passed into legislation earlier this year is still not paying out despite the legal deadline having passed. This month, I have again urged the UK Government and Northern Ireland Executive to honour their legal and moral commitments to these victims.

It is time for leadership from the Secretary of State. Victims deserve no less. He must sit down with the Executive and find a resolution on victims’ payments that gives the scheme the long-term security it needs. It is immoral to allow this to drift any longer.
