Today (19 January) Christian Wakeford, MP for Bury South defected from the Conservative party to the Labour Party.

It’s brilliant news for the Labour Party that Christian has left the Tories and decided that the Labour Party are best placed to represent his constituents. This is more proof that the Tories have no answers to the issues that are facing people now.

This week we have seen wages fall, inflation rise and people are genuinely fearful for the coming rises in energy prices. Rather than working for the British people, the Tories are more interested in talking about themselves and not addressing the serious issues people are grappling with.

Today’s news demonstrates that the Labour Party is the only party that can, and will step up and tackle the decline in living standards.
