Louise Haigh MP Fighting for Sheffield's future
This evening (22 March) the government voted to make it harder for those fleeing from war to come to the UK and find safe haven.
Tonight’s votes on the Nationalities and Borders Bill show the kind of country this government want us to be – small and mean.
Sheffield has a proud history of helping people fleeing violence and is an open and welcoming City of Sanctuary. This was an opportunity to crack down on the disgusting behaviour of human traffickers and to provide safe routes for people fleeing the atrocities of war, the government missed that opportunity.
