Louise Haigh MP Fighting for Sheffield's future
The racist violence and hatred on our streets in recent days has been truly horrendous. These thugs cannot be allowed to intimidate and harass people in their own communities, setting hotels on fire and smashing up places of worship.
The Prime Minister is absolutely right that they must be made to regret their despicable actions, and the full force of the law will be used against them.
I know many people will be afraid for themselves and their loved ones, afraid to leave their homes or to simply exist peacefully. That is an intolerable situation for anyone to feel in Britain in 2024.
I have written to our local mosques to offer support, and I stand in full solidarity with the victims of this horrendous violence.
We must stand together against acts of intimidation, violence and racism.
I also want to thank and express my sincere admiration for the emergency service workers and volunteers who stepped up to help people through these awful times. They are true heroes.
Please do not hesitate to reach out.
