Louise Haigh MP Fighting for Sheffield's future

Louise Haigh MP has called for Royal Mail to drastically improve their services in Sheffield as people continue to not receive significant post, including life-changing hospital treatment letters, mortgage letters, and sentimental birthday cards.
For a number of years, Louise has been calling for Royal Mail to improve their services. She has been contacted by residents that continue to face delays in their post, who are failing on their legal obligations to provide post 6 days a week.
Recently Louise has been contacted by more residents that had not received post in weeks, including hospital letters needed for sick pay and letters including important details for chemotherapy treatments.
The call for action from Louise comes on the back of regulator Ofcom fining Royal Mail £10.5 million for missing delivery targets. People in Sheffield deserves a reliable postal service and Louise has been supporting measures that would ensure customers have a reliable service six days a week.
Louise Haigh MP for Sheffield Heeley said:
“I’ve heard from residents across the constituency that they are still not receiving their post in a consistent manner, and certainly not six days a week. Some people have only just received post that was sent before Christmas! I have contacted Royal Mail about this numerous times, and they are insistent that there is not a problem with their sorting office.
“This is appalling from Royal Mail, especially considering I have people in the area that are still waiting for cancer treatment letters. One of my constituents is still waiting for radiotherapy letters from Weston Park hospital in an already difficult and tough time.
“It’s clear that Royal Mail are failing on their obligations for residents up and down the country and I want a clear explanation from the Chief Executive of Royal Mail to ask what he is doing to improve services locally.”
