Louise Haigh MP Fighting for Sheffield's future

Louise Haigh MP welcomes long-term investment for Sheffield’s Batemoor and Jordanthorpe
Louise Haigh, MP for Sheffield Heeley, has today welcomed the news that Batemoor and Jordanthorpe have been selected as one of the Government’s new “trailblazer neighbourhoods”, set to receive long-term investment over the next decade.
As part of today’s Spending Review, the Government announced 25 neighbourhoods across the UK that will receive up to £20 million over the next decade to drive forward community-led regeneration and renewal. The initiative aims to support local leadership, improve neighbourhood services, and deliver real change on the ground.
This forms part of communities funding for up to 350 places announced at the SR, including the 75 places named in the Plan for Neighbourhoods in March 2025.
Batemoor and Jordanthorpe are the only areas in South Yorkshire named in this first wave of investment, and the funding is expected to support visible improvements to the community, foster community engagement and strengthen social cohesion.
The trailblazer programme will see neighbourhoods receive early support from a dedicated Whitehall team to prepare for the investment, with further details expected to be published by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government in the coming weeks.
Louise Haigh MP for Sheffield Heeley said:
“I’m absolutely delighted that Batemoor and Jordanthorpe in Sheffield will benefit from this long-overdue investment.
“These communities have shown incredible resilience in the face of over a decade of neglect, and it’s right they now get the support they deserve.
“This funding will go directly into our community to improve the area for residents and drive long term regeneration. Communities like this were completely abandoned by the Tories, a Labour Government puts them first”
