I completely agree that Criminal Duty Solicitors play an invaluable role in making sure that all individuals, who have either been arrested, are voluntary attending a police station, or are being interviewed as a suspect, receive the appropriate support, advice and representation free of charge. I know this very well as my dad is a Criminal Duty Solicitor!

As requested I have written to the Lord Chancellor to ask what the Government are proposing to do to encourage more young lawyers to enter this field of criminal law work to make sure that this vital service is not put at risk.
