Louise Haigh MP Fighting for Sheffield's future
I’ve just met with Citizens Advice, Scope and Mind to discuss the impacts of the government’s current draft regulations on the managed migration for 3 million people who will move on to Universal Credit. They’re really worried that as it stands the Government will write to people who are on legacy benefits and give them as little as a month to apply for the new UC claim or their benefits will be stopped.
Lots of people affected will be very vulnerable and it’s the Government’s responsibility to make sure they have sufficient support to transition onto this new benefit, otherwise thousands of disabled people will be without their income and in desperate situations.
