Meersbrook Hall
Meersbrook Hall

Pleased to pay another visit to Meersbrook Hall the other day, which as ever was bustling with volunteers and users of the services on offer.  The Connect IT project, an older person’s computer club, was as popular as ever and is not only equipping people with basic digital skills but provides a social element for lots of local people. It runs all day on a Wednesday and its goal is to help tackle digital exclusion – a big area of interest for me as Shadow Minister for the Digital Economy – but also to challenge loneliness and isolation among older people in the area. People use their computers to do their Universal Job Match searches, so it’s really making a difference to their lives.

It was great to be able to meet so many of the learners and to see the great use that Meersbrook Hall is being put to as a community hub.
