Underfunding of our police is leaving communities less safe

Yesterday we held an Opposition Day Debate on police funding, winning a debate calling for the Government to bring in 10,000 new police officers to help keep our communities safe.

Over the last eight years we’ve seen the loss of 21,000 police officers, 18,000 police staff, and 6,800 PCSOs, and the impact is making itself felt in overstretched forces and rising crime.

The Tories are so ashamed of their mishandling of policing that they didn’t bother to show up to vote. You can watch the debate here.
