This Saturday I’m delighted to able to run part of the Small Park Big Run at Meersbrook Park, which is helping to raise money for two charities helping Palestinian women and girls access education.

Fundraisers will be running continuous laps of Meersbrook Park for 24 hours, for the Khuza’a Children’s Play and Heal project and the Sheffield Palestine Women’s Scholarship Fund.

These Sheffield based projects are working towards a number of causes. The Children’s Play and Heal project is trying to buy new equipment for younger children’s play projects, while the Scholarship Fund is supporting 46 women in Gaza in accessing university.

Unlike us, Palestinian people don’t enjoy freedom of movement and as I saw when I visited earlier this year, even tasks like visiting a hospital, getting to work or school, or visiting family can be very difficult. Thanks to all those who contributed to making this year’s Run such a big success.
