Louise Haigh MP Fighting for Sheffield's future
This month the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive have opened their consultation on options for the new route for the M17 bus service.
Unfortunately, despite my repeated calls for the new service to provide improved access to the proposed new site for Meadowgreen Surgery, in Jordanthorpe, none of the options being consulted on meet the key needs of a more regular service, open during longer hours, which runs along Lowedges Road and provides access to Jordanthorpe.
Given that improved public transport was a key requirement for any move of the surgery, I cannot support such a move without that improvement in place. Without improved transport infrastructure, moving Meadowgreen Surgery would result in unacceptable disruption to patients, and mean the surgery would become inaccessible to those reliant on public transport.
I will continue to press for an improvement in the offer from SYPTE, but I am disappointed they have chosen to overlook this pressing need in their consultation.
Should you still wish to complete the consultation, it can be found here.
