Thanks to everyone involved in Woodthorpe Social Action Project for their hard work.

Last week I visited Woodthorpe youth club to meet a group of inspirational young people from the newly-formed Woodthorpe Social Action Project. These local young people set up the project with the support of Sheffield Futures and South Yorkshire Police to make their youth club more welcoming and inviting for people in the area.

In recent months, I’ve been working with local councillors, the TARA, and the Police to tackle the serious crime and anti-social behaviour that have been taking place in Woodthorpe. The volunteers involved with the Woodthorpe Social Action Project hope that improvements to the youth club will also help the situation by providing a safe space and positive activities for young people.

We should commend these young people who are taking the initiative to provide a better place for their friends and the local community as a whole. If you’d like to support their efforts, you can help by donating your time, money, or materials to redecorate the club.

The project organisers can be contacted on 07766 751 614 or via fundraising@sheffieldfutures.org.uk and the group have also set up a fundraising page, which you can find here.

I want to give a massive thanks to everyone involved in the project for their hard work and for inviting me to visit.
