Losing the centre would have particularly hurt residents of our area, who would have faced long travel times to access care.

I’m delighted to confirm with you that the future of the NHS walk-in centre on Broad Lane has been secured.

In recent days, Sheffield’s NHS Clinical Commissioning Group have announced that additional funding means that proposals to close the walk-in centre have been scrapped. Dr Tim Moorhead, the CCG’s outgoing chairman, has said that “we are not proposing any changes to the walk-in centre at the present time.”

Along with Sheffield Save Our NHS, Sheffield Heeley Labour Party, and many other local people, we have campaigned strongly against closure of the walk-in centre. Losing the centre would have particularly hurt residents of our area, who would have faced long travel times to access care.

Thank you to everyone who signed my petition opposing the closure of the walk-in centre. The success of our campaign shows the power that we have when we come together behind an important cause. I’m proud to have done my bit to represent constituents worried about the future of local NHS services.

I will continue to stand-up for our NHS and work to ensure that the CCG maintain their commitment to the walk-in centre.
