Louise Haigh MP Fighting for Sheffield's future
I’ve been working with Women’s Aid in Northern Ireland to campaign for a Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy in Northern Ireland.
As the only part of the UK without a specific strategy on protecting women and girls against violence but with exceptionally high rates of domestic abuse and femicide, it’s really important that a cross-cutting government plan is developed that deals with prevention as well as the consequences of violence.
I’m really pleased that the Justice Minister in Northern Ireland has agreed to bring a paper to the executive this week on the issue and I’ll be working to make sure it properly delivers for women and girls in Northern Ireland.
