Louise meeting South Yorkshire Police

I met with Inspector Katie Rowland-Wilson from the South West Sheffield Neighbourhoods team at Woodseats Police Station this week.

There have been some concerning incidents across the constituency in the last few weeks including a shooting and murder in Batemoor and an attack in Meersbrook Park.

The Police are working hard to respond to these incidents and are working with other organisations including schools, the council and youth services to address some of the underlying issues. This week they have deployed Operation Duxford across Sheffield which led to dozens of arrests across the city and provided patrols to reassure the community across areas like Batemoor & Gleadless.

I am committed to supporting the Police provide safer communities across the constituency. Funding is available to charities and community groups from the Police and Crime Commissioner to help with youth engagement projects aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour.

Grants are available for up to £7,500 and you can apply here and your application will be reviewed in their next funding window.

South Yorkshire Police’s website has lots of crime prevention information you can access here: Crime prevention advice – SYP (southyorks.police.uk)

If you are a victim of or witness a crime, call 999 in an emergency or for non-emergencies or enquiries call 101.
