Food waste trial in Sheffield
Food waste trial in Sheffield

I am delighted that a selection of households in Meersbrook, Woodseats and Arbourthorne are taking part in a trial to collect waste food alongside your recycling collections.

Food waste when recycled can be used to produce biofuel as well as a fertiliser which can be used for farming.

8,200 properties have been selected across the city to take part in the trial which will help Veolia and Sheffield City Council shape the service to and provide a full city-wide roll out which will be required by law in the next few years.

Houses chosen in the trial scheme will receive and information pack, a food caddy to collect food in the kitchen, a roll of liners for the caddy and an outside bin which will be emptied weekly.

The packs and kit should start arriving in the next week or so, and the trial officially starts on August 29th.
