The government has announced today that Sheffield Heeley had not been successful in its Levelling Up bid and would not receive the much-needed funding to transform communities in the area.

Louise Haigh MP for Sheffield Heeley, said:

“It’s absurd that the North is getting a third of the Levelling Up funding and the Prime Ministers own constituency of Richmondshire, one of the most affluent constituencies in the country has been awarded £19million.

“It’s a blow that Sheffield Heeley was not successful in their bid that would have transformed the area, bringing job opportunities and community resource.

“Labour will do things differently and will see the biggest ever transfer of power out of Westminster through the Take Back Control Act, meaning local leaders can harness the skills and assets in their communities to drive growth.”
