Biggest fall in car production in 66 years

Louise Haigh MP, Labour’s Shadow Transport Secretary, commenting on the biggest fall in car production in 66 years, said:

“Our world-class car industry is at the heart of communities and can lead the way, but these worrying figures show the Conservatives are asleep at the wheel.

“Never-ending chaos under the Conservatives has damaged confidence and delayed critical decisions for the industry, risking high-skilled jobs, and investment in communities across the country depend on.

“Labour will help drive the electric vehicle transition, helping those on low to middle incomes with the up-front costs, and we will accelerate the roll-out of charging points. Our Industrial Strategy will work hand in hand with the private sector to invest in the industries of the future. Labour will bring good jobs back to our industrial heartlands and secure the future of the automotive industry for decades to come.”
