Tory austerity has created a crisis in police forces nationwide. Now, rather than properly fund our police, the Tories want to hike up your council tax instead. This is perverse and would leave many Chief Constables with very tough choices.

The simple truth is that because the Home Secretary cannot make the case in government for extra police resources, he’s passing his own political failure on to local ratepayers.
